Linking an email account to Electronic ID (eID) ensures secure access to Visma applications that require eID and simplifies future sign-ins. This process verifies that the email account belongs to the user and strengthens account security.
When an application requires Electronic ID (eID) authentication, the signed-in user will be prompted to link their email account to the specified eID.
User Decision
The user attempting to access the application must choose whether to continue the linking process or sign out and sign in directly with eID. Signing out is recommended if the currently signed-in email does not correspond to the user account that needs to be authenticated in the application.
Linking Email to eID
If the user selects “Yes, link my email to eID”, the following steps occur:
eID Authentication: The user is prompted to authenticate using their eID (e.g., BankID Norway).
Email Verification: Once eID authentication succeeds, the user must verify email ownership. A 6-digit security code is sent to the inbox of the currently signed-in email account.

E.g. enter a one-time 2FA-code:
Completing the Link
After successful verification (and 2FA if enabled), the user account is linked to the eID.
Clicking “Continue” will sign the user into the application.
Note:
If the email account was previously linked to another eID, it will now be linked to the newly verified eID after completing this process.
